About Us
Silver Gamers is a global, community-oriented website focused on supporting older adults who:
- play video games,
- are returning to games later in life, or
- are curious about getting started
The site was established in 2026, and exists to make it easier to discover resources that help gaming remain accessible, social, and rewarding.
Our aim is to be inclusive and welcoming. You don’t need to identify as a “hardcore” gamer, and there’s no single definition of what an older gamer looks like. We do not prescribe specific age limits or existing knowledge. Curiosity, enjoyment, and connection matter more than skill level or experience.
What Silver Gamers focuses on
Silver Gamers points to resources that explore and support areas such as:
- connection and community, including local and online groups
- reducing loneliness and social isolation through shared play
- mental, cognitive, and emotional wellbeing
- physical engagement and movement through games
- accessibility, including hardware, controllers, and in-game settings
Alongside international online communities, the site links to organisations in different countries so people can find local resources that are relevant to where they live.
A growing, collaborative resource
Silver Gamers is an evolving project. Suggestions, submissions, and pointers to useful resources or relevant news are welcome. If you know of an organisation, community, research project, or article that may be of interest to older gamers, you’re encouraged to get in touch and help shape what the site becomes.
About the team
Silver Gamers is currently run by Mark Dorset.
Mark Dorset
Mark's background spans gaming, technology, and community-focused projects, with a long-standing interest in how games can support connection, wellbeing, and lifelong enjoyment.
Mark’s first home console was a Pong TV game, and he remains fond of classic arcade experiences, with Space Invaders still a favourite. Nowadays you may find him playing Rocket League online or tinkering with a Japanese Vewlix arcade cabinet. His mix of early gaming history and ongoing curiosity informs the intent behind Silver Gamers: to recognise that gaming can remain meaningful, social, and accessible well beyond youth.
